In a dramatic turn of events, Iran executed a third individual on charges of espionage for Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, underscoring the fraught relations between the two nations. The executed, identified as Mohammad Amin Mahdavi Shayesteh, was highlighted by Amnesty International as detained in Ghezal Hesar prison, Alborz province.
Activist groups have voiced alarm over potential mass executions in Iran, especially after the theocracy announced a looming deadline for individuals accused of spying to surrender. This recent execution is part of a series, with Majid Mossayebi hanged just a day prior and Esmail Fekri executed in June.
Such developments come in the wake of heightened scrutiny and unrest, as activists and international observers express concern over Iran's use of capital punishment and its judicial practices amid the ongoing conflict with Israel.
