In a shocking incident in Maharashtra's Palghar district, a septuagenarian couple was reportedly beaten and expelled from their home by their own sons, police revealed on Monday.
The sons, along with their wives, face charges under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, for voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of the peace, according to official statements.
The victims, both in their 70s, were repeatedly assaulted before being driven out on June 16 in the Patil Ali area of Vasai. Left with no immediate refuge, a local NGO volunteer provided them with temporary shelter. Meanwhile, police investigations are ongoing, with no arrests made yet.
