Chief Minister Manik Saha has raised alarm over Tripura's role as a corridor for drug smuggling, largely attributed to its geographical borders with Bangladesh, Assam, and Mizoram.
Addressing the International Day against drug abuse, Saha emphasized that drug cartels target the state's youth, who have fallen victim to addiction.
To combat this crisis, the state plans to establish drug de-addiction centers in its districts, backed by government funding and a zero-tolerance policy on trafficking. Law enforcement has boosted drug seizures, while educational programs aim to inform students about the hazards of drug use.
