Uttar Pradesh Unveils Rhino Conservation Initiative with New Rehabilitation Areas

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken significant strides in wildlife conservation with the approval of two new Rhino Rehabilitation Areas in Dudhwa National Park, Lakhimpur. This initiative, under the Forest and Wildlife Department, features a 1.5 crore rupee allocation for the enhancement of rhino habitats.
The funds will support preserving natural habitats, monitoring wildlife, and training personnel. Part of the budget will focus on community awareness, emphasizing the role of local populations in animal conservation efforts. It also entails the procurement of essential supplies such as medicines and monitoring devices to bolster conservation capabilities.
Deputy Director Rangaraju of Dudhwa National Park highlighted the initiative's goals: creating sustainable environments for rhinos and other endangered species, strengthening surveillance against poaching, and fostering community engagement. The envisioned RRA-3 and RRA-4 will adopt successful strategies from previous rehabilitation models to optimize rhino preservation.
