In a chilling case of familial betrayal, Neeraj Sharma, a 19-year-old from Assam's Udalguri district, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his two minor stepbrothers. The court announced its decision on Monday, following a fast-track hearing.
The prosecution revealed harrowing details of how Sharma led the young boys, identified as Gaurav and Kaushik Sharma, to a forested area under the pretense of a school journey. There, he brutally ended their lives on December 20, 2024.
The case unraveled swiftly after the parents filed a missing report, leading police to discover the bodies near a river. Neeraj's motive was attributed to feelings of neglect after his father's remarriage and his mother's residence in Punjab.
