Bikram Singh Majithia, a prominent figure in the Shiromani Akali Dal, is undergoing scrutiny by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau. Sources report that the leader has been taken to Himachal Pradesh regarding a disproportionate assets case linked to alleged laundering of Rs 540 crore in drug money.
Despite the Punjab Vigilance Bureau's June 25 arrest of Majithia, inquiries continue around properties in Himachal Pradesh tied to his family. His wife, an Akali MLA, reportedly owns a residence in the region, presenting another layer to the investigation.
Majithia, who has endured previous legal challenges, finds himself in ongoing legal turmoil. The 2021 drug case investigation by Punjab Police's special task force supports charges against him, providing a complex backdrop to his upcoming court appearance on July 2.
