Security forces in Manipur have intensified their efforts to apprehend the gunmen behind a deadly ambush that resulted in four fatalities in Churachandpur district. Among the deceased was a 72-year-old woman. The attack, which occurred on Monday, is being attributed to the United Kuki National Army, a banned militant group.
The local police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and have increased security measures to curb any potential escalation of violence following the incident. The ambush took place near Mongjang village, approximately five kilometers from the main town of Churachandpur, targeting individuals in a vehicle.
Three men were killed instantly at the scene, while the woman, an innocent bystander, was struck by a stray bullet and later died due to her injuries on the way to the hospital. The vehicle involved in the incident has been seized as evidence by the authorities, who continue their detailed investigation.
