The Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers have deferred their planned 'mass leave' demonstration following assurances from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi that decisive measures will be taken against those implicated in the assault of a senior officer, confirmed an official source on Tuesday.
According to OAS Association President Jyoti Ranjan Mishra, the Chief Minister has committed to ensuring that all perpetrators, regardless of their influence, will face severe legal consequences. As a gesture of respect towards the Chief Minister's appeal, the association has decided to postpone the mass leave initially scheduled from July 1.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner, Ratnakar Sahoo, was reportedly dragged from his office and attacked by a group on Monday. Police have so far detained three individuals, including BJP corporator Jeevan Rout, and are tracking additional suspects. Meanwhile, sanitation workers in Bhubaneswar have also suspended services in solidarity, seeking the immediate apprehension of all those responsible.
