In a startling development, Himachal Pradesh minister Anirudh Singh has been booked on charges of wrongful restraint and voluntary causing hurt among others, following allegations of assaulting two National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials. The incident reportedly happened while Singh was inspecting a collapsed site.
The First Information Report (FIR) was registered against the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj minister, after NHAI manager Achal Jindal lodged a complaint. Jindal alleged that he, along with his site engineer, was summoned by the minister and subjected to physical assault during the site visit.
The building collapse at Mathu colony, located along the route to Chamiyana Super Speciality Hospital, saw no casualties, but has sparked tension. NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav has demanded a thorough investigation into the incident to uphold the morale of NHAI officers involved in major projects in the region.
