AITC Pushes for 2024 as Base Year in Electoral Roll Revision

The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) delegation on Tuesday pressed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to set 2024 as the base year for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in West Bengal. This recommendation was made during a meeting as part of the ECI's outreach to political parties.
AITC leaders underscored various issues such as duplicate Electoral Photo Identity Cards and the timing of the Special Intensive Revision. They suggested focusing on new voter inclusion for those aged 18-21, questioning the significant increase in older voter registrations.
Concerns were also raised over voter turnout data delays and the presence of central forces in polling booths. AITC's advocacy for balanced booth security and assurance of unbiasedness from the ECI echoed their faith in democratic institutions.
