Sashidhar Jagdishan, CEO and Managing Director of HDFC Bank, has approached the Supreme Court to contest an FIR registered against him, alleging cheating and fraud. The FIR was filed by the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust, which operates Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai.

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Jagdishan, pressed for an urgent hearing, highlighting the gravity of the situation. The urgent listing request was made before a bench comprising Justices M M Sundresh and K Vinod Chandran, who agreed to hear the case on Friday.

The Trust's complaint accuses Jagdishan of accepting a Rs 2.05 crore bribe linked to ensuring the Chetan Mehta Group's control over the Trust's affairs. Citing procedural challenges, Jagdishan's legal team underlines the issue's impact on the bank, with similar petitions faced in the Bombay High Court.
