The Southern Theatre Command of China's military has announced that its naval and air forces conducted a combat readiness patrol near the contested Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea this Thursday.
The command revealed that these patrols, active since June, aim to bolster the country's control over the related maritime and aerial regions, as well as to steadfastly safeguard national sovereignty and security.
This move underscores the ongoing territorial dispute between China and the Philippines over the shoal. Notably, the Philippine embassy in Beijing has not provided a comment on the matter.
