A massive manhunt is underway in western Montana as authorities search for Michael Paul Brown, a military veteran suspected of killing four people at The Owl Bar in Anaconda. The 45-year-old allegedly fled the scene in a white pickup truck, which he later abandoned.
The Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, led by administrator Lee Johnson, is handling the case. Brown is considered armed and dangerous, and Johnson cautioned residents to remain vigilant. Photos released by authorities show Brown, barefoot and shirtless, descending outdoor concrete steps shortly after the shooting.
The tight-knit community of Anaconda, originally founded by copper barons, has been left in shock. Brown's niece, Clare Boyle, revealed that he has long battled mental illness. Authorities, using air and ground resources, locked down and searched nearby areas in an ongoing effort to locate Brown.
