The Odisha government has appealed to the public for any details related to the Puri stampede incident that claimed three lives and injured 50 others during the Rath Yatra event. The call for information is part of a broader effort to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the tragedy.
The state issued a public notice urging individuals to submit any materials, including video footage, via email or through direct meetings with officials to aid in the inquiry. Anu Garg, the Development Commissioner, is spearheading the probe and aims to submit her findings within 30 days to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
In response to the preliminary findings, the state has taken measures such as transferring the Puri District Collector, suspending senior police officers, and assigning senior officials to oversee future Rath Yatra management, reflecting the commitment to preventing future incidents.
