The Mi-24 helicopter, originally from the Ugandan Air Force, was performing a combat escort mission. It crashed and caught fire, injuring the pilot, co-pilot, and flight engineer severely. Investigations into the crash are ongoing, according to the Somali Civil Aviation Authority.
Witnesses reported a dramatic scene with the helicopter spinning uncontrollably before it plummeted to the ground, creating an explosion. While the crash caused minor delays at the Aden Adde airport, its operations have now resumed.
