A local court has delivered a long-awaited judgment, sentencing two brothers to rigorous life imprisonment for a murder dating back over two decades. Each convict was also fined Rs 25,000.
Additional district judge Shirin Zaidi pronounced the verdict against Ramesh and Dahchalu, finally closing a case that has lingered since 2000. The crime occurred in the Sarai Akil police station area and stemmed from a simmering rivalry.
The trial detailed how Lallan Nishad from Jamalpur Bhakanda village had filed a complaint alleging that on June 15, 2000, the brothers fatally shot his father, Ramveer, and assaulted other family members, prompting charges under several sections of the Indian Penal Code.
