The Congress government in Telangana has intensified its welfare efforts by issuing over seven lakh new ration cards, benefiting 31 lakh people, as announced by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
In a video conference addressing collectors, Reddy highlighted that the state now has nearly 97 lakh ration cards serving 3.10 crore individuals. He noted the rising demand, attributing it to the distribution of finer rice varieties through the civil supplies department, which has drawn more residents into the scheme.
Reddy urged district collectors, in-charge ministers, and legislators to lead a distribution campaign for the new ration cards at all mandal centers starting July 25 until August 10, emphasizing Telangana's leading position in paddy production nationally with an output of 2.85 crore tonnes.
