Narayan Rane Withdraws Petitions Against FIRs in Bombay HC

In a significant legal development, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Narayan Rane has decided to withdraw his petitions from the Bombay High Court. These petitions were initially filed to quash the First Information Reports (FIRs) lodged against him in 2021 for controversial comments he made about then-Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
During the court proceedings on Monday, Rane's legal representative, Aniket Nikam, informed a bench led by Justice Ravindra Ghuge that the police had filed a 'C Summary' report in the Raigad district case. This type of report indicates that the case is considered neither true nor false.
The Additional Public Prosecutor, J P Yagnik, stated that a similar report would soon be filed in the Pune case. Consequently, the court allowed Rane, a Lok Sabha MP from Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, to withdraw his petitions, concluding a chapter in this legal saga.
