Trump announced the deal on Truth Social, highlighting Japan's opening for American automobiles and agricultural products, symbolizing a deepening bilateral trade engagement. 'This is a very exciting time for the United States of America, and especially for our enduring relationship with Japan,' Trump stated, affirming the strategic importance of the accord.
The announcement follows a significant dialogue with Japan's chief tariff negotiator, Ryosei Akazawa, at the White House. According to Asahi newspaper, Akazawa also engaged with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, reinforcing discussions on mutual economic interests.
