The Supreme Court of India has agreed to hear a plea challenging the legality of constructions inside the Satkosia Tiger Reserve, a protected area located in Odisha. The petition was brought forward by advocate Gaurav Kumar Bansal, who raised alarms over the eco-tourism projects being undertaken in the region.

A bench led by Chief Justice B R Gavai, along with Justices K Vinod Chandran and Joymalya Bagchi, was informed about the district collector's permissions allowing these constructions. The court will deliberate on the matter on a future date. Bansal stressed the importance of preserving the integrity of the reserve.

The Satkosia Tiger Reserve, home to tigers, elephants, and several endangered species, spans multiple districts in Odisha. It is considered vital for biodiversity conservation, and the plea expresses urgency in preventing further infrastructural developments that may threaten this ecological haven.
