The Supreme Court on Wednesday stressed the importance of sustainable development, cautioning against the hasty use of bulldozers to clear forest areas. Chief Justice B R Gavai addressed a suo motu case regarding the mass felling of trees in Telangana's Kancha Gachibowli region. He advocated for environmental responsibility while pursuing development.

During the hearing, Senior Advocate K Parameshwar, serving as amicus curiae, mentioned the interest of multiple private parties in responding to the state's affidavit. The court has scheduled the next hearing for August 13, following its previous directive for a status quo on tree protection until further orders.

The court's actions stem from concerns over trees being felled during a holiday period, sparking suspicions of deliberate planning. On May 15, the court had demanded that the Telangana government consider restoring the affected areas or face legal repercussions for its officials, emphasizing accountability for environmental stewardship.
