In a significant security move, the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills district for illegally crossing into India. Disguised with forged Aadhaar and voter ID cards, the group aimed to reach Chennai for employment.

The capture, facilitated by a tip-off, saw BSF's 172 Battalion detain two men, two women, and a girl hidden in dense undergrowth, highlighting the effectiveness and vigilance of the border force. Acknowledging the feat, a BSF spokesperson underscored the action's role in avoiding a potential security breach.

The accused were promptly handed over to local police. Meanwhile, the Hynniewtrep Youth Council intercepted another group near Shella in East Khasi Hills, further reinforcing security efforts in the region.
