A 22-year-old murder suspect, Sumit Kumar, also known as Guddu, was fatally shot by unidentified assailants in the Pethiya Bazar area of Bihar's Samastipur district on Thursday evening.
Kumar, who had recently been released on bail, was attacked around 6:30 PM and was swiftly transported to a nearby government hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sanjay Kumar Pandey.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, though police suspect personal enmity to be a contributory factor. Investigations are ongoing following the dispatch of Kumar's body for a post-mortem examination.
