Major Inter-State Vehicle Smuggling Network Unearthed
The Itanagar Capital Police have disrupted a large inter-state vehicle theft and smuggling racket, recovering 57 high-end stolen cars valued at over Rs 30.5 crore. In a groundbreaking operation, the Itanagar Capital Police have dismantled a significant vehicle theft and smuggling network, recovering 57 high-end cars with an estimated worth of over Rs 30.5 crore. This marks the largest recovery of stolen vehicles by a single police station in the country.
Five individuals linked to the gang were apprehended. The intelligence-driven operation led by Capital SP Jummar Basar included the formation of a Special Investigation Team to delve into the sophisticated network crossing multiple states.
Initial findings suggest the gang operates internationally, with digital financial trails indicating foreign connections. Efforts continue to track down other gang members and validate these international links.
