Trump Sets Swift Deadline for Russian Action on Ukraine
U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a new deadline of 10 to 12 days for Russia to make progress towards ending the conflict in Ukraine. The ultimatum suggests Trump is prepared to enforce sanctions or tariffs against Russia if no progress is made, marking a shift in his diplomatic stance.

On Monday, President Donald Trump announced a new deadline, demanding Russia show progress in the Ukraine conflict within 10 to 12 days or face possible sanctions and tariffs. This move underscores growing frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the 3-1/2-year-long conflict.
While visiting Scotland for discussions with European leaders, Trump expressed his disappointment in Russia's inaction, revising an earlier 50-day deadline to expedite progress. During his meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump emphasized the urgency, stating, "There's no reason in waiting... We just don't see any progress being made."
Though Ukraine appreciated Trump's stern stance, with Ukrainian President Zelenskiy's chief of staff acknowledging the message of peace through strength, the Kremlin has yet to respond. Russia has criticized the West's continued arms supply to Ukraine amid ongoing tensions. Trump revealed hesitation to engage further with Putin, emphasizing sanctions as potential reprisal should Moscow fail to act.
