The Orissa High Court has refused to grant anticipatory bail to Bishnupada Sethi, a suspended IAS officer implicated in a corruption case. Sethi's plea was turned down, with the court underscoring the need for an unhindered investigation.
Previously, on July 3, the court had instructed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) not to take any coercive measures against Sethi until further hearing.
The probe stems from a December incident where Rs 10 lakh was seized from Debadatta Mohapatra, allegedly acting on behalf of Sethi. The funds reportedly relate to a Rs 37 crore school development contract for SCs and STs, showing corruption's pervasive nature.
