Tragic End: Inter-Caste Feud Results in Brutal Murder in Chennai
A 27-year-old IT engineer from Chennai, belonging to a Scheduled Caste, was murdered by a youth over an inter-caste relationship. The accused, Surjith, lured the victim, Kavin, into a deadly trap and attacked him with a sickle. A case has been filed against Surjith and his police officer parents.

In a shocking incident underscoring the persistent issue of caste-based violence, a Scheduled Caste IT engineer was brutally murdered in Chennai. The 27-year-old victim, identified as Kavin, was deceitfully ambushed by Surjith, allegedly over an inter-caste relationship. Kavin was employed with a renowned software firm in the city, and his untimely death has left a community in shock.
According to police reports, Kavin was in KTC Nagar on July 27 when Surjith intercepted him. Under the pretense of discussing family matters, Surjith invited Kavin to his home. Midway, Surjith abruptly halted his two-wheeler and attacked Kavin with a sickle, continuing his assault until the victim succumbed to his injuries.
The perpetrator, whose parents hold positions as sub-inspectors, was apprehended on July 28. A case has been registered against Surjith and his parents under various sections, including the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. This incident highlights the deep-rooted issue of caste violence still prevalent in India.
