Peace Talks Bring Temporary Calm to Thai-Cambodian Border
Thai and Cambodian military commanders held talks, maintaining calm at their disputed border after a ceasefire was agreed upon. Despite some reported attacks, both nations are committed to peace. The resolution was supported by international diplomatic efforts, aiming to de-escalate tensions and resume trade negotiations.

Military leaders from Thailand and Cambodia convened on Tuesday to ensure tranquility returned to their shared, disputed border following a truce that ended five days of hostilities. The ceasefire comes after talks in Malaysia, abruptly halting the deadliest clash in over a decade which claimed at least 40 lives and displaced hundreds of thousands.
Despite reports of ceasefire violations early Tuesday, commanders from both nations engaged in discussions to uphold the agreement. Thai Major Gen. Winthai Suvaree confirmed efforts to prevent troop movements and facilitate the return of affected individuals. Coordination teams have been set up to handle potential issues, ensuring the ceasefire's smooth implementation.
In the backdrop of this tenuous peace, dialogue continues for trade negotiations under international pressure. Thailand and Cambodia, both facing substantial U.S. tariffs pending resolution, received support from global leaders to de-escalate tensions and create a pathway for progressive trade talks and normalized border activities.
