The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has seized a staggering Rs 1.60 crore from a Public Works Department (PWD) executive engineer following a bribery scandal, revealed officials on Tuesday.

Kalu Ram Meena, positioned in the Judiciary Civil Division-2 at the Rouse Avenue District Court Complex, allegedly requested a three percent cut of bills from contractors as bribes.

During a trap operation, Meena was arrested on Monday while accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe from a complainant contractor. Subsequent searches in Delhi and Jaipur uncovered significant cash and valuable assets, said a CBI spokesperson in a statement.
