Papum Pare District Tightens Surveillance on Inner Line Permits

The administration of Papum Pare district in Arunachal Pradesh has taken decisive steps to strengthen surveillance on the issuance of Inner Line Permits (ILPs), addressing concerns over illegal migration. All officials have been instructed to enforce strict vigilance when granting both temporary and permanent ILPs.

This directive follows ongoing eviction drives targeting illegal migrants in neighboring Assam. In response, applicants for ILPs must now provide voter ID cards, Aadhaar cards, and recent passport-size photographs as part of the application process, according to Wednesday's official notification.

To ensure compliance, administrative offices are tasked with conducting regular ILP checks within their areas and working closely with police to establish a special task force dedicated to enforcing regulations and conducting spontaneous checks. Papum Pare deputy commissioner Vishakha Yadav highlighted that enforcing ILP norms is vital for the district's security and administrative efficacy, given the proximity to the state's porous border, urging residents and businesses to adhere to the regulations.
