In a noteworthy exchange, Union Home Minister Amit Shah responded in Konkani to a letter from Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant concerning an online fraud case. Shah's swift action, assigning the matter to the Economic Offences Bureau in Mumbai, was lauded by Sawant on social media.
Chief Minister Sawant expressed his gratitude to Shah for taking immediate action on his complaint regarding online property fraud. Praising the use of Konkani in the communication, Sawant emphasized the pride it brings, seeing the language gain respect and expand in official dialogues.
The letter from Shah, dated July 25, noted the Economic Offences Bureau's filing of the case on March 28 and the commencement of investigations. Shah further commended Goa's efforts in supporting the CBI to combat cyber crimes.
