Kerala's political landscape is currently embroiled in controversy after BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar defended nuns accused of engaging in forced conversions and human trafficking. His statement has drawn ire from Sangh Parivar groups, including the influential Hindu Aikya Vedi, which insists on a deeper probe into the allegations.
The Hindu Aikya Vedi has expressed concerns that the police prematurely declared the nuns innocent, compromising justice for the alleged victims. Their state president, R V Babu, emphasized the importance of resisting conversions disguised as acts of service and love, aligning his organization with the BJP-led Chhattisgarh government's stance.
Meanwhile, BJP and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai have justified the police's actions, citing promises made to the victims for nursing training and jobs as deceptive conversion tactics. However, Chandrasekhar remains adamant about the nuns' innocence, vowing to ensure their safe return while condemning any unjust actions and clarifying that Bajrang Dal is not part of the BJP.
