Myanmar's Junta Plans Election Under Military Oversight

Myanmar's ruling junta has established an 11-member commission, headed by military chief Min Aung Hlaing, as part of preparations for a national election. This development was reported by state media on Thursday.

While no specific date has been set for the election, Min Aung Hlaing, in his role as interim president, will retain control over the war-torn nation and supervise the voting process, according to MRTV. The election, set for December, marks the first national ballot since the 2021 coup catalyzed a civil war, plunging the Southeast Asian country into turmoil.
