In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court has urged the Telangana Assembly Speaker to clear disqualification petitions of 10 BRS MLAs who shifted their allegiance to the ruling Congress, within three months.
BRS MLA K P Vivekananda suggested that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy should not wait for the Speaker's decision and instead should pressure the MLAs into resigning proactively, allowing for a fresh electoral mandate.
The judgement underscores nationwide concerns over political defections destabilizing democracy, with Chief Justice of India B R Gavai emphasizing the urgency of addressing these issues effectively.
