In a recent statement, AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel called on the Maharashtra government to contest the acquittal of seven individuals in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case. The decision to release all accused, including prominent figures such as former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur, has raised significant questions about justice and accountability.
Jaleel highlighted the parallels between the Malegaon case and the 2006 Mumbai train blasts, where the Bombay High Court also recently acquitted 12 suspects. He questioned who the true perpetrators of both incidents are if those previously accused are innocent. This uncertainty points to a larger issue of transparency and justice within the judicial process.
Urging the state to appeal the acquittal immediately in the High Court and asserting that the Supreme Court could intervene if ignored, Jaleel emphasized the need for an unbiased review free from religious or caste implications. His call underscores the necessity of a thorough examination of past verdicts to ensure justice is served.
