Karnataka's Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, has addressed ongoing speculation concerning the leadership of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating alleged mass burials in Dharmasthala. Current SIT chief Pronab Mohanty, a senior IPS officer, may be replaced if he is assigned a role in the central government.
Despite the Chief Minister's remarks, Home Minister G Parameshwara confirmed that the state government has yet to make a formal decision regarding Mohanty's potential transfer. Mohanty, who also serves as Director General of Police for the Internal Security Division, is on the list for potential central government roles.
The SIT was originally assembled to investigate severe allegations originating from claims by a former sanitation worker. Allegations include mass murder, rape, and secretive burials over two decades. The investigative team remains focused on transparency and truth, with senior officials urging the public to disregard misleading rumors.
