On Friday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that the legal system is actively handling the case involving the arrest of two Catholic nuns for alleged human trafficking and forced religious conversions.

The nuns, Preethi Merry and Vandana Francis from Kerala, were apprehended alongside Sukaman Mandavi on July 25 at the Durg railway station. Their arrest, made in the BJP-ruled state, followed a complaint by a local Bajrang Dal member alleging proselytization and trafficking of three girls from Narayanpur.

Within the Parliament complex, Sai reiterated that the 'law is doing its job.' This incident has incited parliamentary protests, with the Congress party branding it as 'deeply disturbing and shocking,' urging the Centre to partake in resolving the issue.
