On Friday, representatives from the 'Abhaya Mancha,' a doctors' forum established after last year's RG Kar hospital rape and murder case, organized a rally outside the CBI office at CGO Complex in Salt Lake, Kolkata.

Protesters wielding broomsticks accused the CBI of collaborating with the state government, causing investigative delays. 'The CBI is acting in agreement with the state government. Despite months since the crime at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, no investigative conclusions have been reached,' stated Abhaya Mancha's joint convenor Tamonas Chaudhuri.

An on-duty postgraduate trainee was brutally raped and murdered inside the RG Kar Medical College on August 9 last year, sparking nationwide outrage. While the Kolkata Police arrested one individual, the CBI, following a Calcutta High Court directive, charged him as the sole accused. A trial court sentenced Sanjay Roy to life on January 20, while CBI continues probing the conspiracy angle. Meanwhile, two programmes commemorate the crime's anniversary in Kolkata on August 9, including processions and a 'Reclaim the Night' march planned for August 14.
