West Bengal is bracing for an official visit from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to flood-affected regions in Paschim Medinipur and Hooghly districts. A senior official confirmed her plans to review the devastating situation directly on the ground.

The Chief Minister's itinerary includes stops in Ghatal and Chandrakona in Paschim Medinipur, followed by a trip to Arambag in Hooghly, as the government seeks firsthand insight into the crisis.

This move comes after State Irrigation Minister Manas Bhuniya criticized Damodar Valley Corporation's role in the flood's severity, accusing them of failing to regulate water discharge despite appeals from the state.
