The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) has issued a stern warning to the Punjab government, demanding an immediate withdrawal of the controversial Land Pooling Scheme. The association's Executive Director, Satnam Singh Chahal, described the initiative as 'anti-farmer' and raised concerns over its potential impact on the livelihoods of rightful landowners.
Chahal has cautioned that the Punjab Government should reconsider its stance, emphasizing the social-economic consequences of such policies on the state's unique fabric. He criticized the influence of external political agendas and urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to prioritize independent decision-making for Punjab's interests.
NAPA also reminded the government of the farmers' significant contributions to national food security, asking for respect and fair treatment, rather than harmful policies. The association threatened that any forceful implementation could trigger statewide agitation if people's genuine concerns go unheeded.
