India's Diplomatic Horizons Expand in the US
India has launched eight new consular centres in the US, enhancing visa and service accessibility for the Indian diaspora, as part of a significant diplomatic expansion. Ambassador Vinay Kwatra underscored the move as a testament to India's commitment to strengthening India-US ties through people-to-people connections.

India has significantly expanded its consular services in the United States by opening eight new centres. These facilities, officially inaugurated by India's Ambassador to the US Vinay Kwatra, include locations in Boston, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Edison, Orlando, Raleigh, and San Jose, with a further centre planned for Los Angeles.
This expansion brings the total number of Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs) in the US to 17, providing enhanced accessibility for Indian and American citizens seeking services such as visas and passports. Ambassador Kwatra stated that this move reflects India's deep-rooted relationship with its diaspora and burgeoning diplomatic ties with the US.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the role of the diaspora as 'India's strongest brand ambassador.' The broadening of consular services, including the opening of additional consulates, underscores the growing India-US partnership. VFS Global, which oversees these operations, will extend its services to Saturdays to better serve the community.
