In a landmark initiative aimed at supporting India’s ex-servicemen in their transition to civilian careers, the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) in collaboration with the Directorate General of Resettlement (DGR), successfully hosted the DGR Job Fair 2025 on 2nd August 2025 at the NIELIT Delhi – Janakpuri Centre. The event was jointly organized by NIELIT centres from Delhi, Jammu, and Ropar, and marked a significant step in integrating India’s skilled veterans into mainstream employment sectors, especially in the domains of Information Technology and emerging technologies.

A Dedicated Platform for Ex-Servicemen

The job fair specifically catered to DGR-registered serving and retired armed forces personnel who had undergone professional skilling at NIELIT centres. With over 190 candidates registering and more than 250 job openings made available by 14 participating companies, the event bridged the gap between training and employability for a section of the workforce that often faces challenges in reintegration after military service.

The initiative reaffirmed the commitment of government institutions to create sustainable, skill-based career opportunities for veterans in recognition of their service and sacrifice.

Opening Ceremony: A Celebration of Dedication and Transition

The event commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony and a motivational address by Shri Subhanshu Tiwari, Executive Director, NIELIT Delhi, who served as the Chief Guest. In his address, Shri Tiwari hailed the event as “a bridge between valour and vocation”, highlighting the importance of supporting servicemen not just during their duty but throughout their journey into a second career.

“The transition from uniform to a new professional identity is a significant and often challenging phase. At NIELIT, it is our privilege to assist in this transformation,” Shri Tiwari remarked.

He applauded the Delhi NIELIT team for their commitment and successful execution of the job fair, and expressed gratitude to the corporate participants for recognizing the value ex-servicemen bring to the workplace.

DGR Leadership Commends Initiative

Group Captain Sanjay Roy, Director (Training), DGR, and Lt Col Jaideep Singh, Joint Director (Training), DGR, graced the occasion as Guests of Honour. Group Captain Roy, in his remarks, stressed the need for continuous upskilling to enhance the employability of retired defence personnel.

“Skill development is not a one-time exercise but a continuous process. DGR remains committed to expanding training initiatives for our servicemen,” he assured.

He praised NIELIT’s sustained efforts to provide technical training and platforms for placement, emphasizing that such initiatives form the backbone of post-retirement welfare for the defence community.

Diverse Job Roles, Reputed Employers

A wide range of companies took part in the job fair, offering job roles aligned with the specialized training received by the veterans. Among the participating employers were:

  • CyberPeace

  • Kaidoko

  • G4S

  • RRGAURDUS

  • Sidhi Infonet

  • Stalwart Group

  • Trig

  • SiSProsegur

  • Onfinity Technologies

  • and several others.

Job profiles spanned across:

  • IT support and cybersecurity

  • Logistics and supply chain management

  • Administrative roles

  • Digital services and technology operations

The hiring organizations were especially interested in candidates who had undergone certification and training in cybersecurity, system administration, cloud computing, AI/ML, and data analytics, underscoring the industry’s confidence in the adaptability and discipline of ex-servicemen.

Empowerment Through Collaboration

The event witnessed overwhelming enthusiasm from former armed forces personnel, many of whom expressed their appreciation for the seamless platform and employer engagement. The job fair reflected a unique convergence of governmental vision and corporate social responsibility, demonstrating that meaningful employment is the most dignified tribute a nation can offer to its defenders.

Dr. Alok Tripathi, Director (Scheme & Skilling) and Chief Controller of Examination, NIELIT, welcomed participants and reiterated the institute’s vision to create a robust skilling-to-employment pipeline.

“This job fair isn’t just about placements—it’s about ensuring that our veterans continue to contribute to nation-building in new and meaningful ways,” Dr. Tripathi emphasized.

A Vision Beyond the Event

The DGR Job Fair 2025 is not a standalone event, but part of a larger ecosystem of initiatives by NIELIT and DGR aimed at upskilling defence personnel in future-ready sectors. By offering industry-relevant certifications, mentorship, and employer engagement, these programs are transforming India’s veterans into valuable assets across diverse industries.

The event’s underlying theme — “You protected us – Now let us empower you” — powerfully encapsulated the intent and impact of the initiative.

A National Imperative for Veteran Integration

As India moves towards becoming a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy, the integration of trained, disciplined, and resourceful veterans into the civilian workforce is both a necessity and an opportunity. With institutions like NIELIT leading the charge, backed by the vision of DGR and the support of private enterprises, this model is poised to become a benchmark for civil-military synergy in human resource development.
