Prithviraj Chavan, a senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, has accused political rivals of deliberately misinterpreting his recent remarks on terrorism. Speaking at a press conference, Chavan clarified that his statement, 'terrorism has no caste, religion or color,' was misconstrued for political advantage.
The controversy arose after the acquittal of seven suspects in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, prompting protests by the Shiv Sena. Chavan highlighted that the National Investigation Agency has been probing the case since 2014, but the real perpetrators remain unidentified, suggesting possible political pressure on the investigation.
Additionally, Chavan criticized the BJP-led state government for its failure to curb extortion activities and declining industrial investment in Maharashtra, asserting that such illegal acts thrive under political protection.
