The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau on Sunday announced a significant crackdown on cybercrime, resulting in the arrest of 228 individuals, including 27 women, across India from January 1 to July 31, 2025.
Among the offenses targeted were fake call centers, job scams, child exploitation, and cyber slavery rings. The operation led to a noteworthy 13% decline in cybercrime cases in Telangana in the first half of the year, according to TGCSB director Shikha Goel.
The arrested individuals were linked to a staggering 1,313 cybercrime cases nationwide, with 189 incidents reported in Telangana alone, and fraud amounting to Rs 92 crore. Arrests spanned multiple states, with perpetrators hailing from diverse backgrounds, including private sector employees and students, mainly aged between 18 and 30.
