Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Sunday highlighted the contrasting intentions of historical and current legal frameworks in India. While the British-era Indian Penal Code was designed to punish, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita aims at delivering justice to the populace.

Meghwal was speaking at the launch of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) at the Delhi Assembly, where he noted the full implementation of three new criminal laws in Delhi. NeVA represents a flagship initiative by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs towards creating a paperless legislative environment nationwide.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced her government's intention to introduce a bill regulating school fee hikes, addressing an issue previously unaddressed by past administrations. This legislative push is expected to commence in the upcoming Assembly session.
