Assam's Bold Eviction Drive: Aiming to Reclaim Forest Ecosystems

The Assam government embarked on a significant eviction operation on Sunday, targeting alleged encroachments on approximately 1,000 bighas of forest land in Golaghat district. The drive resulted in the displacement of over 350 families, as the state aims to reclaim its vital forest ecosystems.

Following a five-day mission that cleared nearly 11,000 bighas of forest in Rengma Reserve Forest, the administration set its sights on Nambor South Reserve Forest. Officials reported peaceful proceedings, indicating effective coordination by authorities.
