Iran Establishes National Defence Council Amid Escalating Tensions

Iran's top security body approved the creation of a National Defence Council, reported state media on Sunday, following an intense air conflict with Israel in June. This conflict marked Iran's most significant military challenge since its war with Iraq in the 1980s.

The newly formed defence body aims to centralize and enhance the nation's military strategies and capabilities. It will be chaired by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and include the heads of the three government branches, senior military commanders, and relevant ministries.

Iran's military commander-in-chief, Amir Hatami, issued a warning on Sunday, highlighting persistent threats from Israel that should not be underestimated.
