The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal against the transfer of a probe to the CBI concerning the alleged assault of Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath by Punjab Police officers. The court emphasized the importance of respecting Army personnel, stating that legal violations won't be tolerated.
On the night of March 13, Colonel Bath and his son were allegedly assaulted by 12 Punjab Police personnel in Patiala over a parking dispute. The Supreme Court dismissed the officers' appeal, underscoring the need for a thorough investigation by the CBI.
Initial investigations led by Chandigarh Police faced criticism for inefficiency, with no arrests made even months later. The Supreme Court's decision ensures an impartial inquiry, as questions regarding police conduct loom over the case.
