The long-awaited trial of ex-RPF constable Chetansinh Chaudhary recommenced on Monday after a five-month hiatus. Previously deemed potentially unfit for trial, the court has now assessed Chaudhary to be mentally competent.

Chaudhary stands accused of shooting four individuals on a moving train, including three passengers and one RPF assistant sub-inspector, during an incident in 2023. The gruesome act occurred on the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Express near Palghar station.

The trial resumed with testimony from the sixth witness, a former RPF head constable. Chaudhary faces charges under several Indian Penal Code sections and applicable Railways Act provisions.
