In a notable judicial development, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has been exonerated from charges tied to the release of a Libyan officer pursued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). The decision, however, doesn't mark the end of the legal proceedings, as Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, Justice Minister Carlo Nordio, and Cabinet Undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano remain under scrutiny.

Meloni, jubilantly announcing her clearance on social media, expressed bewilderment over the ongoing investigation into her colleagues, given their decisions were made collectively. "It's absurd to request that Piantedosi, Nordio, and Mantovano face trial, but not myself," she stated.

The situation emerged following the release of Osama Elmasry Njeem, a Libyan officer allegedly involved in severe crimes in Libya. Mistakes in the arrest warrant were cited as the reason for his release, according to Justice Minister Nordio, adding layers of complexity to this international legal saga.
